Pensacola is a medium-sized coastal community in Escambia county, Florida's panhandle and known as Florida's Western Gate. With a population of just under 54,000 residents and 71 neighborhoods, Pensacola is the 65th largest community in Florida.
Pensacola lacks a public transit system to get to and from work, buy groceries, or take the kids to their doctor's appointment, so you'll want a car. Regardless of the means by which you commute around town, Pensacola is notable in that residents have a long commute to work than most places, with a commute time from home to work for those of us who live here between 15 and 30 minutes on average.
The "UFO House" out on Pensacola Beach is actually?a prefabricated "Futuro" house designed by Finnish architect Matti Suuronen and completed in 1966. Its withstood more hurricanes than I can count since erected, which is appropriate since the portable space age structure was originally conceived as a ski cabin.
After completion the experimental design was?hyped as?the home of the future, but only less than 100 were ever built, and around 60 still remain. This Futuro?now houses the Pensacola Beach Preservation and Historical Society Headquarters.
Pensacola, isn't a huge city like you will find on the Gold Coast, but it has a lot of people with undergraduate and graduate degrees in their 20s and 30s who are educated, and career starters. This makes Pensacola a pretty good place to find people like themselves, with good opportunities for friendships, socializing, romance, and fun!
Pensacola has more artists, and designers than most places across the country. Freelancers are another relatively large group of the workers in Pensacola. If you're lucky enough to work from home, why not live where there is a beach?

Pensacola is one of the most well-educated cities in the nation with nearly 41 percent of adults having at least a bachelor's degree. Compare that to the average community in America, which has just under 22 percent with a bachelor's degree or higher. Of course, these days when you get a higher education it comes with a lot of debt! So, if you're someone who falls into this scenario, consider your options long before thinking about purchasing a home, and even before the ink is dry on your student loan note!
There are two measures for understanding income: the average and the extremes. While a neighborhood may be relatively wealthy overall, it is equally important to understand the rate of people - particularly children - who are living at or below the federal poverty line, which is extremely low income.

This equates to an annual income of $176,000 for a family of four, while over 22 percent of the children live below the federal poverty line. Simply put, we can do better and that begins with a good education!

5 个月Thanks for taking the time to read my post; I hope it inspires you to connect if you haven't already! I'd like to share with you a little about business, life, and fun here on the third coast - if you don't mind? The Redneck Riviera began in the Florida panhandle cities of Panama City & PCB. Also called LA... Lower Alabama, but more affectionately known as the "Redneck Riviera". A strip of surf and sand that stretches some 95-miles along Florida's Hwy 98, with the most beautiful sugar white beaches in the world. But, as time moves on, boundaries change, and the Redneck Riviera has as well; extending deep into Mississippi, and boot toe of Louisiana's Florida Parishes. Follow my page and see if a visit; business engagement; or perhaps a total relocation is right for you or your business. If you live, work, or play here already, please share in the comments what makes the 3rd Coast great for you. Corrections and especially local updates are always appreciated, and will be used to improve this post.
