Penang
Step into old-world Asia in Penang, the longstanding link between Asia’s great kingdoms. Penang is now a world-renowned exotic holiday destination and was listed as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in 2008. Penang has so much to offer, visitors are charmed by its rich history and colourful culture, its quaint colonial style and lively local atmosphere. Street art, artisan boutiques, fashionable cafes, trishaws wherever you look, colourful carnivals, and a diverse mix of Malay, Chinese & Indian people combine to give Penang a unique atmosphere. This mix of cultures means Penang some of the best street food anywhere in the world, especially in George Town. Sample fragrant and spicy curries, classic dishes such as beef rendang, delicious noodle creations, and sumptuous desserts in one of the Hawker Markets, even the shopping malls have fabulous food courts with a wide variety of cuisines.
One of Penang’s most popular destinations is Batu Ferringhi, where you will find a long stretch of soft, white sandy beach with numerous water sports such as jet-skiing, parasailing and windsurfing. This area is home to lots of hotels, our particular favourites are The Golden Sands Resort by Shangri-La or the beautiful Shangri-La’s Rasa Sayang Resort & Spa. The night market in this area is also very popular.
Away from the busy streets you will find temples, mansions, a hillside funicular railway, museums and numerous places offering adventure thrills for the more adventurous families.

4 年Another place we visited last year Andrew Hollins. I'm not sure whether to feel sad or excited to see your posts! Again, you arranged for us to stay in the Shangri-la Hotel, which was absolute luxury. Our children's favourite part of the holiday was visiting https://www.escape.my/, and we loved visiting Monkey Beach & Turtle Beach - just stunning!
