The Pen is in Your Hand: Part 2

The Pen is in Your Hand: Part 2

One day, a teacher brought literature books to his class for reading. Unlike usual, he told the students that today they would read together, page by page, as it was a short story. He gave the go-ahead, and they started reading:

Page 1 "The once lived a hunter who liked hunting impalas in the forest, and his name was Mulenga."

Page 2 "One day, as Mulenga was busy with his hunting expedition, he met a lion."

Page 3 "Because Mulenga was alone and could not manage to kill the lion, he decided to run."

Page 4 "Mulenga ran so fast like a kalulu, but unfortunately, he reached a dead end when he came to a river in front of him."

Page 5 "BLANK"

Upon discovering that page 5 was blank, the kids got upset and shouted at the teacher, asking why the page was blank. They complained that they wouldn’t be able to share the story with their parents and friends at home since they didn’t know how it finished.

The teacher calmly asked the pupils to be quiet. He then told them that “The Pen is in your hand” each of you should write how you thought Mulenga’s story ended. He went on to say that he wouldn’t argue with how anyone ended their story. He told them that the ending was open for everyone to end it the way they felt i.e. "If you think Mulenga jumped into the river and swam, that’s up to you. If you think Mulenga stood firm and kicked the lion, that’s up to you. If you think Mulenga used his charms since he is from Kasama and hid so that the lion couldn’t see him, that’s up to you."

Moral of the Story

Our lives are like a story, and every day is a new page. What you decide to write on that blank page is entirely your choice because “The pen is in your hand”.

Have a blessed weekend and always remember: The Pen is in Your Hand
