Continuing from yesterday's piece, I want to acknowledge the individuals affected by a traumatic event and the valuable lessons learned from it.
Today's lesson centres around resilience. The story that follows is particularly remarkable as it involves a young man named Pemba Tamang, who was only 15 years old at the time of a devastating earthquake that hit Nepal in 2015.
As human beings, we are often confronted with unexpected challenges that test our strength and resilience. The 2015 Nepal earthquake was one such event that left a path of destruction and hopelessness in its wake. However, amidst the chaos and despair, stories of bravery and courage emerged, and Pemba Tamang's journey is a shining example of this.
Pemba was working as a porter in Langtang, a popular trekking destination in Nepal, when the earthquake struck. The 7.8 magnitude quake caused extensive damage, with Langtang being one of the areas hardest hit. Pemba found himself trapped under the rubble of a collapsed building, with no food or water, for 72 hours.
He had given up hope when he heard the sound of rescue helicopters. Somehow, he managed to free himself and was airlifted to a nearby hospital. Pemba had sustained several injuries, including a broken arm, a fractured leg, and severe dehydration.

Despite the trauma and agony he had endured, Pemba's resilience and determination shone through. He refused to let his injuries defeat him and was determined to recover his health and rebuild his life. With the support of his family and the local community, he embarked on a long journey to recovery, undergoing multiple surgeries and months of physical therapy to regain his strength and mobility.
But Pemba's resilience didn't stop there. He started a new chapter in his life by establishing a trekking company to assist others in exploring the beautiful landscapes of Nepal. Using his knowledge and experience of the mountains, he created unique trekking routes that allowed visitors to discover the culture and beauty of the country.
Pemba Tamang's journey is an extraordinary example of resilience and determination. Despite facing unimaginable adversity, he refused to give up and turned his experience into.
Tomorrow I will be focusing on 'Community' and how following the devastation caused over 3 million people to become homeless yet through community Nepal was rebuilt.
