Pella Windows: Are they worth the price?

When I meet people, the conversation always turns to the same question “What do you do for work.” Most people have no idea what a “Brand Ambassador” for a window company does.? The fun answer to it is, “I’m like Vanna White.? I pull out the windows on display and show them to you.”? All kidding aside, my job is more than that. It involves listening to the customer to discover what their vision for their home's windows or doors.

When I mention that I work for Pella Windows and Doors, I often get positive feedback and a story about how they had Pella Windows or knew someone who did. Occasionally someone will ask me, “Are they worth the price?”?

I always look at that question as an opportunity to talk about why Pella is the best choice for your home.? Some might say I’m biased. Taking that into consideration, I searched online for a neutral perspective.?I found a great article on todayshomeowner.com regarding my company.

PROS & CONS OF PELLA: THEIR TAKE ON US.

Pros- Pella’s extensive collection of window styles, materials, and glass options. Over 90+ years of experience in the industry.

So far so good. I moved onto the cons. What I read confused me.

Cons- Option to add integrated smart home technology (how is this a con?) Smart technology is something exclusive to Pella and we’re proud of it. One of the best things it does is it allows you to check your doors and windows to see if they’re locked or unlocked (and get real time notification if it changes.) This can all be done with a simple phone app. Get full details: insynctive.pella.com.

WHAT’S DID WE DO WELL AND NOT SO WELL?

  • Pricing- they felt we were on par with others in the industry.
  • Customer reviews- they considered reviews a “critical defining factor for a brand in any industry.” They looked at over 100 reviews and found a numerous amount of them were positive.
  • Energy Efficiency- One of the most outstanding things in this category was that three of our products earned the Energy Star’s Most Efficient list for 2023. This put us in solid standing as an energy efficient window provider.
  • Installation- Another win as Pella offers several options for installation: through the showroom and Pella installer, hire your own contractor, a home improvement store or DIY. We give you free reign.
  • Reliability- Pella remains strong, however there was a small issue with customer follow-up and returning phone calls (remember, this review was done on a national level. Pella Windows and Doors of New England prides itself on excellent customer service from our Brand Ambassadors to our Sales Representatives and Installers.)
  • Selection- They said we had an excellent selection of windows, but that door options were a bit limited. We now partner with Reeb doors, so the selection is quite large.
  • Warranty- We scored big with our limited lifetime, which the called “excellent.” They appreciated our parts and labor as well as our window transfer policy.

I WANT TO CHOOSE A PELLA INSTALLER: WHAT’S YOUR PROCESS?

Pella follows a specific set that of rules in completing the installation process.? Let’s break it down.

  • There are two tracks to take when choosing an installer.? If the project is a trade (where a contractor is involved) you pick your installer.? If it's retail, an installer will call you and arrange set up a date and time.
  • The installer will provide instructions for you (or the team) to complete before their arrival.
  • On installation day, the installer will walk through the process with you and answer any questions. They’ll also provide you with an estimated completion time.
  • Work will begin and if any issues arise, they will let you know (you can stay during the installation or leave.)
  • Once the work is completed, the installer will go over the work done, answer any questions and make sure you’re satisfied with the installation.
  • The crew will clean up all work areas and wrap up any finishing touches that need to be done.
