Pehchaan The Street School: From struggles to sky
“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others”, these words by Mahatma Gandhiji have beautifully shown their presence in Mr. Akash Tandon and all the founding members and workers of Pehchaan The Street School.
Pehchaan The Street School is an organization which started its journey with ten students and five interns. The school has been running for nine years. It has been doing remarkable work since 2015. And today, it has fifteen hundred children as its students and various interns, volunteers, members, and other workers. Besides providing free education, it provides a number of healthcare facilities like health checkup camps, hygiene camps,etc. for free too. Pehchaan The Street School has been covered at different media channels, blogs and newspapers such as Boldsky, Ek Aaghaaz’s YouTube channel, LifeBeyondNumbers, Dainik Jagran newspaper, FactNews Channel, Janta ka Reporter, FirstpostHindi, Aaj Tak,etc. It has even been honored by the Chief Minister of Delhi, Shree Manish Sisodia in the year 2018. Social media and social networking sites like Quora, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Medium, YouthkiAwaaz, and countless more are replete with posts, videos, and articles about Pehchaan The Street School, its tasks and achievements and other valuable information about the school. Just a month ago, in the year 2024, Pehchaan The Street School’s story got covered on DD News by the anchor, Shahla Nigar~ GOOD NEWS, JAZBA INDIA KA. In the film, the anchor covered how different co-curricular activities were taught to the children. The facility of using Computers for learning and study purposes is also available. On interviewing the teaching intern, the anchor got to listen to how the interns teach the students from the very beginning, clearing all the concepts from basics, comfortably ignoring the class or age group they are in. The intern also mentioned that they had a target of educating the children and making them get admitted to reputed colleges and universities for higher education. The fun fact is any person of any age group for gaining education from Pehchaan The Street School is welcomed by the team. Deepak, a brilliant student of Pehchaan The Street School who recently scored 83 percent in Class 12th Boards with the assistance of Pehchaan The Street School and has been currently admitted in a prestigious college, also expressed his desire to be a part of Pehchaan The Street School as a teaching intern in the upcoming years. Thus, a new and energetic inspiration in hearts of those children were seen, to uplift not only their and their family’s conditions but also of other underprivileged children in the future years. All in all, Pehchaan The Street School getting covered on DD News was a proud moment not only for its students and co-founders, Mr. Akash Tandon and Ms. Kanika Narula but also for each and every member of Pehchaan The Street School. In addition, Pehchaan The Street School getting collaborations by various institutions and organizations is another positive sign that the school has been successful in making more and more people aware of its presence and target. The school has made 200+ collaborations which is a praiseworthy number. Summing up, the achievements of Pehchaan The Street School are endless. Keeping in mind the conditions in which the underprivileged children of Delhi are living, every child who is studying and learning even a word at Pehchaan The Street School is completely an achievement in itself. The school has made its way through the challenges faced by an organization which is getting started up and has finally become a well-known and well-regarded selfless school situated in Delhi. It has already transformed many lives and many more are yet to be transformed. Therefore, we all should come forward and help Pehchaan The Street School in fulfilling its aim in every way possible and being the citizens of India, regard assisting it in its work as our major duty and responsibility. This can be done simply by donating any amount as per one’s wish. Another option is to sponsor a child’s education and of course one is free to spread awareness about the organization and its mission if helping through donating funds is not possible. By doing so, the child will be able to grab new opportunities in his life without any hindrance. Concluding, I would like to state that we should make best efforts as per our capacity to serve others and make them smile.
