The primary goal of Open Stance Circles is to bring together individuals committed to openness—towards others, their environments, and themselves. It's one thing to understand the value of being open-minded and open-hearted; it's another to recognize when we're being judgmental and to consciously choose to shift towards openness. This shift from being reactive to being responsive has been a game-changer for me and for numerous leaders, coaches, and individuals I work with.

In Open Stance Circle meetings, participants share their experiences of being either open or closed. This sharing is not just therapeutic; it’s educational. We inspire and learn from each other. There's immense power in being part of a community united by a common journey towards openness and growth.

The CREATE Peer Coaching Process

The CREATE peer coaching process is designed to address specific challenges that arise in our personal and professional lives. During Open Stance Circle meetings, we review the Open Stance postures and share our experiences. We then choose one or two challenges that are common among the group. The individual facing the challenge receives peer coaching and walks away feeling understood, with newfound clarity and support.

Let's delve deeper into the CREATE process:

C – Challenge or Case: The individual presents a challenge they're facing. Recently, a leader shared her dilemma about hiring a candidate amidst team tension and conflict regarding the decision-making process.

R – Request: The leader asked for suggestions and examples of how others had handled similar delicate situations.

E – Explore with Empathy: Participants offered empathy and each provided a coaching question to help the leader reflect on her situation.

A – Awareness: The leader read through the coaching questions and began to reflect on them. Participants added insight. This collective input helped her gain new perspectives.

T – Take-Away: Within a few minutes, the leader identified her next step. She felt excited and grateful, her perspective widened, and she experienced a sense of relief.

E – Embolden and Encourage: The group offered further support and encouragement. Some participants even extended their assistance beyond the session.

At the subsequent meeting, the leader reported a remarkable transformation. Armed with her Open Stance and the group's support, she successfully navigated her team's tension. She demonstrated the efficiency of her decision-making process and highlighted its benefits to the team. What initially seemed like a difficult situation turned into a win for both her and her team. It’s rewarding when we support and learn from each other.
