Pedro Jarque Krebs
My photographic work aims to raise awareness among people of the beauty and diversity of wildlife, and above all of its terrible fragility.
A philosophy graduate from the Sorbonne in Paris, Peruvian photographer Pedro Jarque has won numerous distinctions throughout his career, notably thanks to his captivating portraits of wild animals, through his desire to restore some of their stolen dignity (Sony World Photography Awards, Prix de la Photo PX3, Moscow International Foto Awards, International Photography Awards). The darkness of the backdrop and the play of light and shade allow the photographer to create the atmosphere necessary to approach the animals emotionally.
Ferocious beauties isolated from all context, as though they had been captured in their most secret intimacy, this is the remarkable artistic gesture of Peruvian photographer Pedro Jarque Krebs, restoring to the animals some of their stolen dignity. After studying philosophy at the Université de Paris La Sorbonne, the Peruvian photographer has won numerous awards throughout his prolific career, largely due to his captivating wildlife portraits. Born in Lima, he has travelled to the heart of the Amazonian wilderness since the age of ten and specialised in landscape photography from the 1980s onwards. Subjects of fascination that are very present in his work, the wild animals that he photographs in natural reserves have earned him multiple awards, such as the Sony World Photography Awards, the Prix de la Photo (PX3), the Moscow International Foto Awards (MIFA), National Geographic Photographer of the Month, and International Photography Awards (IPA).

By immortalizing wild beasts in their natural environment and then working on the lighting in post-production to make them appear against a neutral background, Pedro Jarque Krebs claims to help break down the barrier that we have built over the centuries around our relationship with nature. animal world.
The play of shadows and lights thus creates the atmosphere necessary to approach the animals emotionally.
