“The first week has been great, with the team within my department encouraging each other with a few internal competitions to see who can get the most steps each day. It has also been a great motivator to get away from the screen at lunchtime and go for a walk.” Odili Aliboh, Binnies Asset Management Consultant?

“The best bit [of the challenge] of course is going to new places. I started on day one with a hike on a walking trail in Carlingford, Co Louth. I am planning to have a scenic walk at least once a week to somewhere I’ve never walked. New places with a few pics – another hobby of mine. Week one has been enjoyable and a challenge like this is a good motivator and it’s great to see the pictures from everybody else’s journeys. Roll on week 2!” Michael Kerr, RSK Ireland Business Development Manager?

“My daily step goal is 10,000, which is definitely made easier with my furry friend Barney!” Katie Trafford, RSK Group Events Coordinator?

“I love the #RSKSteps, as its part of my build up to three middle distance triathlons (1.2 mile open water swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 mile run) I will be competing in later in the year.? These are based around the Cotswold Water Park in June, Swansea Docks in August and Weymouth in September.” Eric Downey, Structural Soils Associate Director?

Walking into week 2: Top tips?

Have you set yourself a stepping goal? It could be daily or weekly, for yourself or for your team. Set yourself a daily goal or give yourself a total to work towards by the end of the week to keep yourself and your team motivated.?

Michael Kerr’s top tips include “parking a bit further from the door to get a few extra paces in. You can also start to think about your working day and sitting time. I’ve started adding in a short walk around lunchtime, which has the added benefit of giving my head and body a break from crouching over a computer.”?

As we move to week 2 of this year’s Pedometer Challenge, Mental Health Awareness Week is also being marked. This year’s theme puts a focus on loneliness and meeting up with friends at weekends and colleagues over lunch is a great opportunity to reconnect with those around us. The stepping challenge presents an opportunity to reconnect and walk and talk with colleagues, friends and family.?

Keep sharing your stepping adventures on social media with #RSKSteps and look out for step counts each week.?
