Pay range for this position is $32.83 - $48.76/hour. Actual pay is based on years of licensure.

POSITION SUMMARY: Provides professional nursing care services to patients within the Children’s Hospital of Illinois and ancillary areas that serve pediatric populations. . Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to assist with pediatric emergencies; conscious sedation; patient transporting to and monitoring in ancillary departments; admission/transfer/discharge process functions in an effort to facilitate enhanced patient movement throughout the Children’s Hospital of Illinois. Assists ancillary departments such as outpatient lab and emergency department when care of a pediatric patient is needed. The following are general characteristics of this job, although duties may vary by assigned shift.


QUALIFICATIONS: The job incumbent is required to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the unit. This requires that the incumbent demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development as well as the physical, emotional and psycho-social needs of the patient population served. Current State license as a Registered Nurse required. BSN Required. Work requires a minimum of 2 years pediatric experience, prefer 1 year of pediatric critical care experience, in an acute healthcare facility within the past 3 years. Completion of pediatric critical care classes or successful completion of a competency equivalent. Maintains PALS, ACLS, and Procedural Sedation certification. Along with goal for chemotherapy certification competency. Work requires the interpersonal skills necessary to comfort patients, family members and/or significant others; to communicate effectively and concisely with other patient care providers; and to instruct patients, family members and/or significant others in self-care/home care procedures. Work requires analytical ability necessary to assess patients' physical, psychological and social needs, develops individualized patient care plans, and evaluate patients' responses to medical and nursing interventions and flexibility and prioritization skills to work autonomously.?
