Pedestrian Safety

Migma DSFB – Savings***Solutions ***Simplicity

Inexpensive and effective solution for intersection and crosswalk safety

We have to be aware, accidents between vehicles & pedestrians are on the rise. A good portion of these can be avoided. But there’s new evidence today that even walking across the street is getting more and more dangerous.

The Governors Highway Safety Association shows that the number of pedestrians killed in traffic jumped 11% last year, to nearly 6000. That’s the biggest single year increase in pedestrian fatalities ever, and the highest number in more than two decades.

One contributing factor, as witnessed every day, just by observing both the pedestrians and the drivers, travelling in your community & parking lots, one thing they have in common, their eyes are down, staring at their phones or are engaged in a animated conversation on their phone. This is most prevalent at crosswalks, exit lanes & entrances.

Distracted Drivers are everywhere, the Migma DSFB gets their attention and helps to prevent accidents.

These distractions, caused by their devices, are well documented, rising cause of pedestrian- vehicle accidents and sometimes this leads to fatalities. Too many pedestrians are becoming oblivious to the traffic around them.

Migma Systems, Inc., has developed a product. The Migma? DSFB System. This is not me-to technology and can be retrofitted to your current signage.

It can help prevent accidents and save lives. Requires no special tools or outside power lines, can be installed and set-up in about an hour.

The advantages over other flashing beacons are numerous, (1) Easy Installation            ( requires no special poles or tools ), it can go on any sign post or pole, It takes about 1 hour to install. (2) Solar Powered, without a large battery box , everything is self contained. It will continue to operate, even if we had 10 continuous days of rain. (3) Very low maintenance, battery replacement after 3 years. (4) light weight (5) Can be used with sensor or flip a switch and it can be continuous flashing. (6) Low Cost. (7) It can be used either for vehicle or pedestrian/cyclist detection. (8) The sensor can be placed as much as 1500 feet away & still activate the flasher. (9) Requires no button pushing, activated by pedestrian approaching crosswalk or vehicle approaching intersection.

The Federal Highway Administration has an analysis of the Effects of Stutter Flash LED Beacons increasing yielding to pedestrians using unsignalized intersections, summarizing the results of the studies, “When going from a no beacon arrangement to a beacon system, on the supplementary warning sign on the right side of the crossing, increased yielding from 18% to 81%. There was further increase in yielding behavior, with placement of beacons on both the right and left side of the crossing to 88%. It was evaluated for 1 year and found there was little to no decrease in yielding behavior over time.
