Pedestal Systems & Deck Surface Options for Landscape Architects

Pedestal Systems & Deck Surface Options for Landscape Architects

The 2024 ASLA conference is almost here. At the expo, Fibergrate and our sister company, Bison Innovative Products, will be offering landscape architects a chance to get hands on with our line of robust products for elevated decking. Here’s a sneak peek at what you can find.

Pedestals for Every Occasion

Fibergrate and Bison both have pedestal systems for outdoor projects. These pedestals are corrosion resistant and ideal for sloping floors or decks where you need to create a level surface.

  • Our Fibergrate line of grating pedestals is adjustable up to 60” heights and specially designed to hold square mesh molded grating with ease.

Why Use Pedestal Systems in Landscape Architecture?

Pedestal supported decks and boardwalks are versatile. They can be modified or moved from place to place as necessary, and pedestals are generally much less expensive than beam supports. Our systems are non-penetrating and can be deployed without damaging the material below.?

Where Are These Systems Useful?

Landscape architects use raised deck systems in all kinds of applications where a level surface is required or where drainage is a key concern. They also work well for areas where subsurface elements need to be accessible for maintenance.

  • Decks and Patios (on grade or rooftop)
  • Walkways and Boardwalks
  • Fountain and Pool Surrounds
  • Landscaping Drainage Areas
  • Popup Parks/Parklets

How to Top Your Pedestals: Surface Options?

Fibergrate has a number of options available for creating walkways and boardwalks. Molded grating is one of our flagship product lines since it is extremely durable. It is resistant to rust, moisture, damage, and even UV radiation. This type of open grating is a preferred solution for areas where drainage is the primary requirement.?Note: You can see this heavy duty product at the 2024 ASLA show!

Our smooth pedestrian boardwalk options like Dynaplank? are attractive and barefoot friendly. This strong and durable pultruded product performs for decades.

Want a natural look and feel? Artificial turf is another favorite surface options, particularly for areas with high foot traffic. Bison’s entire line of pavers includes a selection of durable wood tiles and 2C pavers that can look like stone, wood, or other natural materials.?

Want more ways top off your deck with furnishings? There are plenty of site furnishings to choose from, including Bison's cube collection.
