It’s one thing to enjoy your passion as a hobby vs hustling each day to fulfill your dreams. Sometimes when passion meets reality, it can get extremely stressful and you are forced to navigate through life challenges to keep it alive!

On a long weekend, my alarm was set to ring at 5:30 am. But it was one of those days when I woke-up minutes before the alarm was supposed to buzz and with a big smile, I turned it off already feeling accomplished for the day.

I jumped straight out of bed, splashed some cold water on my face, and before joining the awaited call, stole some moments reflecting on how I first met my second pebbler?

Partth’s story of incredible conviction and compassion has stayed close to my heart. I met him years ago on a camping trip to Himachal Pradesh where we exchanged thoughts on our fancy dreams and future goals. Over recent years, I had been following his work and passion for enriching the lives of young, underprivileged Thalassemia Warriors in India.

It’s inspiring to see how someone can change their Pain into a Passion for helping other patients with a similar illness.

The Wishing Factory - Enriching Lives, Bringing Smiles

He was diagnosed with a progressive disorder - Thalassemia Major, when he was 3 months old. It's an ailment when the body cannot make blood and you need blood transfusions every 15 days, LIFE LONG.

At the very young age of 20 when most of us are trying to figure out our interests and field of further education, he considered his ailment, not as suffering but embraced it as a part of him and started a collective noble effort, fulfilling the wishes of underprivileged children suffering through Thalassemia. His work has now expanded manifold as his team continues to establish multiple Thalassemia wellness centers to provide care and support to economically backward sections of the society.

What keeps you going each day?

The implications of my failure - not being able to extend life support to a child in need drives me to keep moving forward every day.

What are some of the challenges you face as the founder?

"When you start something good with someone else’s money (donations), there are a lot of responsibilities that come along. It gets stressful sometimes. As the founder, you are constantly under performance pressure and fear the day when things might get off the hook."

I was touched by his genuine concern for young patients and continued hard work for adding value to society. Indeed, we each have the potential to Make a Difference!

We briefly talked about “Entrepreneurial anxiety and fear of failure” and how important it is for people to be aware of and address this mental health condition. We exchanged thoughts on emotional fitness and the importance of opening up to our close ones.

After we hung up, I kept thinking about his unique journey of becoming a possibility, winning over his fears, taking risks, and building the empire, his NGO. I felt so proud of his victory over the perceived limitations.

Some stories leave a dent in your heart. Our conversation lingered in my head throughout the day as I couldn't stop wondering how this young boy decided to convert his PAIN into POWER!

In Partth’s words

when we change the way we look at things, the things we look at - change.
