Pearls of wisdom they are not...
but as Clarity turns 15 this week, I’m sharing 15 reflections which has enabled us to develop and maintain this thriving business.? ?I’ll be sharing 3 per day for the next 5 days – I’ve tried to keep them cliché free where possible (surprisingly difficult) and I hope, tucked away in there somewhere there is a nugget or two which you find valuable, phil x

1.?????? ?Love your customers
?
Without our customers we are nothing and I unashamedly love our customers.? In everything we do I want us to constantly strive to add value to our clients. Our DNA and brand promise of being Inspiring, Challenging, Pragmatic and Personal has enabled us to have a unique and unrivaled level of relationship with our clients.? We have been lucky enough to work with many of our customers for >10 years and by the nature of what we do some of these relationships have extended to friendships.? Friendships that I think will last a lifetime -for that I am very grateful.? ??If you’re a customer and you don’t feel ‘loved’ please call me!

2.?????? Measure your own success

There can be many people on the sidelines who will advise on how you should measure success.? ?Growth is important to me, ?revenue is an important measure, profit even more so.? But in the early days of Clarity (whilst our family were still of school age) to have the summer holidays ‘off’ and invest time with them was potentially an even more important measure of success.? ?In addition to have family time, selfishly I want time to do some of the adventures I want to fill my life with.? ?2012 was one of Clarity’s worst financially, but one of the most successful for me personally.?? What’s more important? As with most things it’s about getting a balance.

3.?????? Simplicity
Simplicity is our mantra, particularly in our HQ.? There is power in simplicity, and we’re particularly looking to make any process as simple as possible.? Simplicity enables quick and smart decision making without the need for any unnecessary bureaucracy, meetings or ambiguity. I want simplicity in how we work with our colleagues, simplicity in how we engage with our clients and how we run the Clarity end to end.? ??It just makes life easier for everyone and we can all focus on what really matters. ??
