Peanut Justice

In this edition, let's start with probably the best email that I have ever written to complain about service! While the email is a quick read, the highlighted text summarizes what I experienced on India's leading full-service airline that unfortunately will cease to exist from November 2024. What better way to remember it for posterity!

"We suffer more in imagination than in reality". – Seneca

The incident gave me enough of a heart burn that I drafted the email as soon as I landed. Despite the humor, it’s not about the peanuts but it’s about our belief that we have been taken for a ‘ride’.?

In this case, may be there weren't enough bar snacks on board or just that the Inflight Service Manager or Cabin Director was just brushing up his or her English. For the record, since the incident I have travelled the same sector multiple times and got my bounty of peanuts at 35,000 without any scrimmage. ?Maybe that’s why I have had no response from Vxxxxxx. Nonetheless, one of us will always regale others with the curious story of bar snacks.

"To forget one's purpose is the commonest form of stupidity" - Friedrich Nietzsche

Now no one (neither any organization nor any customer) wants to be in such a situation as it leaves a scar. Without judging Vxxxxxx (ok a little bit as I would have expected a half decent response), many a time in life we will be faced with similar situations. How so?

The need for a solution leads us to suboptimal outcomes despite the best of intentions. Solutioning under pressure or overengineering solutions are amongst common causes. Thinking?

At least I have faced this multiple times on both sides of the aisle - while taking decisions and but obviously as a customer.? There are no straight or standard answers that will enable you to minimize the opportunity to go wrong but, in the end, to deliver justice remember what Carl Jung said:

“Know all the theories, master all the techniques, but as you touch a human soul be just another human soul” – Carl Jung

I had the same experience this week when I was traveling. This was United. Are the airlines trying to save money?

Interesting read and something which I experience day in day out. When I go to Banks despite a display system no one uses it. They call out the number and it's huge anxiety for me. Same goes for airline calls. Accessibility when we think we think of only for wheelchairs which is ramps so in this case for alcoholic drinks. But when it comes to others accessibility no one bothers as it's not visible or costly like in case of serving peanuts for non alcoholic drinks. But unless we stand by right and make them aware overlooks will happen. Thanks for sharing insights month on month.

On the faraway side, have seen petty snack dwellers selling peanuts outside country liquor shops..maybe it's saying something !!! On a second thought, maybe the airlines had all the noble intentions of trying not to strangulate the teetotaler with more carbs, possible...maybe ?
