Peanut Butter Pantry Receives Stock Boost from Total Beverage Company in the South

Castries Saint Lucia, April 12th, 2024: Wednesday April 10th, marked the official opening of the Peanut Butter Pantry at the SEEDS Resource Centre in Vieux-Fort by RISE St. Lucia Inc, and the Alliance for Community Transformation (ACT). The establishment and expansion of the Pantry in the south of the island is in response to an increase in socioeconomically challenged families having to seek assistance for food and other necessities in the north. The Peanut Butter Pantry was first established in 2020 in Gros- Islet by the Seaview Rastas on a mission for caring.

To kick start the Pantry, total beverage company Heineken Saint Lucia Ltd (formerly Windward and Leeward Brewery Ltd), supplied twenty (20) cases of product including Piton Malta and Crystal-Clear Flavoured water in time for it’s official opening to the public on Thursday April 11th, with a pledge to establish a long-term commitment.

Corporate Affairs Manager of Heineken Saint Lucia Ltd Louise Victor who presented the donation to the RISE Saint Lucia Directors and SEEDS Resource Centre staff remarked “Our company has operated as a manufacturer in Vieux-Fort for forty-nine (49) years and throughout this time, we have always responded to the needs of the community as best as we can. We recognize the complex social issues that the community faces, hence, once this request was received it was only natural that we facilitated the provision of products within our non-alcoholic portfolio in aid of families.”

Chairman of RISE Saint Lucia Dr. Venus Cherry received the donation and commented “We are truly grateful for Heineken Saint Lucia’s response and the items received today will truly go a long way. The Pantry was established here as a means for creating greater access for social support care within the southern belt of the island. We indeed look forward to establishing a longer-term partnership with the company.”
