Peak performance: Building a fulfilling career
Supply Chain People
Helping to build great cultures through attentive recruitment across the Supply Chain and Logistics industry.
We recently caught up with Stuart Walter , a trained clinical hypnotherapist who has notably coached many sporting world champions, business owners and individuals in performing at full potential.?Stuart shared some of his insights about getting into the right headspace to reach peak performance, including how to translate that into career, business ownership and management.
Prior to becoming a hypnotherapist, Stuart reached elite levels in Taekwondo.?His personal focus on mindset started through positive thinking and affirmations of wellness and although modestly strong, fast and flexible, he felt he didn’t quite have that killer instinct and needed to find an edge in his sport.?With his niche being in the peak performance zone, Stuart founded the Elite Mindset Institute .
Here are some of the things we learned that have reiterated our approach – in advising candidates – in building a great career that feels fulfilling and sustainable.
The higher you go, the more you crash.
You might have what you need nutritionally, physically, technically and believe you are all set to succeed in your career, but as the brain controls our every thought, choice, and deed, focusing on high performance mindset should be incorporated.
Athletes don’t rise to the challenge; they tend to drop to their training.?High performance mindset is where the high-performance aspect of you is performing under pressure. It’s not actually about performance.?It's all to do with how one applies the intensity to meet the goal. By maximising every training session, the pressure in the moment of being tested can be eliminated.?
