Peak Brain's Performance Workflow. Neurobiology of Excellence??

I often start my corporate talks with this question:

"Are you a knowledge worker?"??


Do you earn a living by thinking, solving problems, or creating content?

Even if your work takes you out “into the field”, you’re still making decisions and using tech to operate.


??Your brain is your workhorse.


And here’s the surprising part: Despite all our advances in AI and neuroscience, most of us are TERRIBLE at using our brain and organizing work around how our brain actually functions.



Some Things We Know ??

  • Brain Cycles: Our brains work best in 90-minute cycles followed by a 20-30 minute break. Naps and non-sleep deep rest (NSDR aka Yoga Nidra aka Progressive Body Scan) are best practices to reset our brains. But do we take those breaks?
  • Daily Phases: The brain goes through “phases” during the day – the brain in the morning isn’t the same brain in the middle of the day or at night. Why don’t we all schedule all the “work around work” and non-essential meetings then? Why do we invest our brain’s best time into shallow work? WASTING its best time, best decisions, best judgments on stuff that doesn’t move the needle forward?


  • Metabolism Matters: Your brain runs on blood sugar, electrolytes, and hormones. That’s why coffee ? works!

But you know what also works and works even better?

Having protein for breakfast and carbs with fiber so your focus is on point. Or so that your emotions are under control during key meetings when stakes are high.



Respect Your Brain ??

Just some thoughts.

The science of high performance for knowledge work is out there. Just not evenly distributed. And definitely NOT prioritized or designed for by most workplaces.

Respect your brain ?? – it’ll make you money, save you money, improve health, relationships and well-being.
