The Peace Within That Influences Peace Without

In a hectic and impatient world, the movement for peace is a universal aspiration.

However, true peace isn't just the absence of conflict; it's a state of inner calm that stretches outward.

Let's deep dive into how seeking peace and embodying it within ourselves can profoundly influence this earth around us.

How Doing Good Starts a Chain Reaction that Promotes Peace

Psalm 34:14 (NIV) reminds us,

"Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it."

It's a simple yet fascinating truth: peace begins within. You cultivate peace through acts of kindness, empathy, and forgiveness. When we choose to do good, we set in motion a ripple effect, fostering greater harmony in our relationships and communities.

Evil Begets More Evil

Conversely, harboring resentment, envy, jealousy, and hate only produces discord. Engaging in harmful behavior surely leads to dangerous outcomes. As

Philippians 4:7 (NIV) assures,

"... The peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Why Jesus' Peace Passes All Understanding

During life's storms, Jesus offers a magnificent peace that defies human logic and our surrounding challenges. In Matthew 5:9 (NIV), He declared,

"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God."

This simply means that God honours peaceful activity. For example, when faced with turbulence, like the tempestuous sea, Jesus commanded, "Peace. Be still!" (Mark 4:39 NIV). His words not only calm external turmoil but also soothe the emotional chaos within us, offering a profound sense of tranquility.

How Peace-Making Brings You Closer to Christlikeness

Do you know the biblical narrative of Abraham and his nephew Lot trying to decide on where to settle in Canaan?? Please read it in Genesis 13:5-13. It exemplifies the power of peace-making.

When disputes arose over the land in Canaan, Abraham chose reconciliation over contention. By prioritising harmony, he not only preserved familial goodwill but also demonstrated his faith in God's provision.

In striving for peace, we reflect the character of Christ, who Himself is the embodiment of Jehovah-Shalom (Judges 6:24), The Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). As we seek to reconcile, forgive, and love one another, we align ourselves with His divine meaning and destiny. Peace-seeking allows us to become instruments of His transformative grace in a world yearning for compassion and healing.

The journey toward peace begins within ourselves. When we nurture a spirit of peace, we become catalysts for positive change. Let us emulate Christ. May His peace reign within us, transforming the world one heart at a time.
