Is Peace Possible? Yes, Meet the Peacemakers

The International Summit on Peace is just around the corner. At the summit, active global citizens will come together and create a common vision for a peaceful world. Achieving world peace can appear to be a complex and challenging topic, but it can be achieved with each individual collectively working towards the goal of peace in their own life.

Those who attend and speak at the International Summit on Peace are everyday people who are taking a stand for what they believe in and creating peace within their own communities. On September 6-8, visit Kuching, Malaysia, “the City of Unity,” to learn how our speakers are acting as peacemakers by using their unique talents and strengths to bring peace around the world.

Meet some of the politicians, doctors, and entertainers who will contribute to a more peaceful world and who will be speaking at the International Summit of Peace.

Lilia Aguilar Gil

As the founder and director of LIBRE, a non-governmental organization empowering Mexican citizens to fully exercise all of their rights, Lilia Aguilar Gil contributes to a more peaceful world by drawing attention to public issues. She actively seeks to resolve these issues and is an example of how you can pursue your passions while creating a more peaceful world.

Dr. Richard Heinzl

At the International Summit on Peace, Dr. Richard Heinzl will share stories of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. This is exactly what Dr. Heinzl has done himself as he is the founder of the Nobel Peace Prize-winning organization, Doctors Without Borders: Canada. Like Dr. Heinzl, you can take your education and experiences and find ways to promote peace within your realm of knowledge.

Phyu Phyu Kyaw Thein

It is possible to pursue the things you love and have those things aid in your pursuit of peace. Phyu Phyu is a Burmese pop singer who has transformed her celebrity status into an opportunity to be an ambassador for global peace. Volunteering with several global organizations, Phyu Phyu serves as a shining example of letting your pursuit of the things you love lead you to a more peaceful world.

Richard Lui

It is possible to use the tools and resources you have in your hands to change the world. Richard Lui uses his passion and ability in journalism to report on major international events throughout the last decade. In 2007, he became the first Asian American male to anchor a daily, national cable news show. Richard has used his influence as a major news network reporter to promote peace.

In their respective communities, Lilia, Richard, Phyu Phyu, and Richard have all leveraged their individual skills and talents to make a greater, more peaceful world. You can too.
