Peace on Mother's Day 2024
On this Mother's Day 2024, we wish for peace.
Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan
A mother of four, Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan has been an outspoken advocate of global education, cultural exchange, interfaith dialogue, and world peace.
On May 5, 2024, Queen Rania told Margaret Brennan on CBS’ Face the Nation: “I challenge myself every single day to put myself in the shoes of an Israeli mother, who has a child that’s been taken as a hostage… and I try to empathize and see where they’re coming from… we need the hostages to go home as soon as possible. And we need the war to end as soon as possible so that Palestinians can go back to their homes, if they have homes left.”
On October 24, 2023, Queen Rania spoke to CNN’s Christiane Amanpour in an interview: “As a mom, we’ve seen Palestinian mothers who have to write the names of their children on their hands – because the chances of them being shelled to death, of their bodies turning into corpses are so high. I just want to remind the world that Palestinian mothers love their children just as much as any other mother in the world.”
Food for Thought on Peacemaking
"Make every effort to live in peace with everyone." (Hebrews 12:14)
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." (Matthew 5:9)
"His (Jesus Christ's) purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace. He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near." (Ephesians 2:15 &17)
"Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification." (Romans 14:19)

6 个月Revenge, Justice, Peace There are two types of 'justice', justice for everything that has happened until now, and justice for everything that happens from now on. Justice for everything that has happened until now, will be very very bloody and very very cruel. Justice from now on paints a future in which humans are treated as equals, not only pretend, but actually. It requires the transfer of privilege and power from the oppressors to the oppressed. Whether this transfer is peaceful or not, is up to the oppressors. If by "peace" you mean silence of the oppressed while oppressors engage in all sorts of perverse hypocrisies, that duplicity gets us in the mood for 'revenge'.
