Peace with God
??????????? Peace with God, is it achievable? Yes, here’s how. Christ’s perfect peace can only be in our lives if He is allowed to rule our lives, and He can’t do that if He is not present in our lives. Understanding that when we allow the “peace of Christ” to rule within our hearts, we have behavior choices too to make: choosing contentment over greed, compassion over indifference, kindness over harshness, humility over conceit, gentleness over anger, tolerance over vengeance, and love over hate. The Scripture written by the apostle Paul and Timothy outlines this road map for us perfectly. Colossians 3:1-10: “If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. On account of these the wrath of God is coming. In these you too once walked, when you were living in them. But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator.” And, Colossians 3:12-15: “Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. God the Father through Him.” If we are weary of emptiness in our lives and those impulses to constantly pursuit money or success, knowing deep in our hearts something is missing and we don’t know what it is. The thing that’s missing is that personal relationship with Christ. The only solution to experience the peace of God and peace with our relationships: spouse, children, parents, co-workers, and friends. Confess our sinful ways to God and place our trust in Jesus’ sacrificial death. This pays our sin debt and abolishes the separation between us and God. Philippians 4:7: “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Yes, the peace of God is available to us all. Romans 5:1: “Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
