For a long time, polyethylene (PE) pipes have been widely used in the construction of many urban pipeline networks, such as natural gas transportation, municipal engineering, industrial production, rainwater recovery, mining operations for their excellent corrosion resistance, good flexibility, simple installation process, and long service life.

PE pipe outer wall coating with peelable thermoplastic protective layer (hereinafter referred to as coating pipe) refers to extruding thermoplastic material coating protective layer on the outside of the working pipe through multi-layer co extrusion technology. The inner PE pipe is mainly responsible for pressure bearing and conveying, while the outer protective layer plays a protective and auxiliary role. It is independent of the working pipe and can be easily peeled off during welding. This design not only improves the durability and safety of the pipes, but also simplifies the construction process, providing pipeline designers with greater choices and opportunities to expand pipeline performance.
Compared with traditional polyethylene pipes, the peelable protective layer on the outside of PE pipes can reduce the initial scratch depth, block cracks from transferring from the outer protective layer to the PE pipe, effectively protect the working pipe, and improve the safety of the pipeline.
Polyethylene will age outdoors due to factors such as ultraviolet radiation, heat, ozone, moisture, industrial hazards, and microorganisms, resulting in discoloration and decreased performance. To ensure pipe performance, the outer coating can effectively resist the aging of the working pipes caused by ultraviolet radiation, greatly extending the service life of the working pipes. In addition, depending on the usage scenario, the outer coating also has extended functions such as anti-static corrosion prevention, termite bite prevention, and location detection.

The outer protective layer of HDPE pipes generally uses harder materials (such as MPP), with a thickness of 0.9mm to 5mm, and increases with the increase of pipe diameter; The outer protective layer can be peeled off to facilitate the welding construction of HDPE pipes.
