PCTFE In Self-Locking Fasteners
PRODUCT: Self-Locking and Self-Sealing Fasteners
PLASTIC: PCTFE Rod
PCTFE, widely known as Kel-F?, is widely fabricated for use in the self-locking/self-sealing fastener industry.
(Fun Fact: PCTFE was originally commercialized under the trade name "Kel-F" by the M. W. Kellogg company in early 1950s. The name simply comes from "Kellogg" and "fluoropolymer".)
"What is a self-locking fastener?"
Basically what it sounds like. It's a threaded fastener that locks into place when inserted.
(The above picture shows a Nylon insert in the ND Strip? product from ND Industries?)
"What's it good for?"
Areas where changes in temperature or consistent rattling will loosen regular metal bolts and screws over time.
