QuantuMDx Introduces PCR Diagnostic System for Covid-19 Detection
QuantuMDx has introduced the Q-POC diagnostic system with a rapid PCR system for detecting Covid-19 in healthcare facilities.
The portable system and its first laboratory test, called the Q-POC SARS-CoV-2 assay, have received the CE-IVD mark for use in Europe.
The PCR system provides rapid molecular diagnostic testing with results in almost 30 minutes.
QuantuMDx notes that the device combines all molecular diagnostic laboratory testing into one system.
Q-POC can be used in a variety of medical settings, including emergency departments, intensive care units, maternity hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies.
The company pointed that the SARS-CoV-2 detection test is placed in a sealed, single-use test cassette, which ensures safety and ease of use, and eliminates the risk of infecting personnel.
The analysis was designed with all strain information of the virus in order to guarantee full coverage of all known genetic varieties of SARS-CoV-2.
The assay showed a sensitivity and specificity of 96.9% and 98.3%, respectively, with no cross-reactivity with commensal microorganisms (Data from the development and assessment of rapid technology (DART).
QuantuMDx chief executive Jonathan O’Halloran said: "Q-POC represents a new class of molecular diagnostic devices: they are fast, battery-operated, can multiplex, and are so easy to use that anyone can learn to use them."
