It has been a year since the launch of the latest version of the Code of Practice for the Investigation and Control of Dampness in Buildings.
This document forms the cornerstone of what is expected, as the minimum level, by PCA members and lays out what consumers can expect when employing a member of the Property Care Association.
The Code of Practice sets an overarching methodology for those investigating dampness in buildings.
The document should not be classed as fully comprehensive or cover every situation, eventuality, or construction type faced by a surveyor, but if the basic principles of investigation within the document are followed they will lead to a carefully considered and recorded rectification strategy, of correct diagnosis to the cause of the dampness, and remedial works/action.
Just one of many good reasons to instruct a Member of the property Care Association, leading the way in to correct investigation of dampness in buildings.

6 年John Brownlow , I will back you all the way on that one John to raise the standards is what the PCA is all about , I have also been pushing it under the nose of all the so called damp specialist, who question the PCA level of competence and ask them if they have examinations which are ABBE accredited, as the starting benchmark.

6 年I will be quoting this excellent document at all the so-called "damp specialists" who tell my clients "I recorded high meter readings; it's got rising damp; needs a new dpc" without giving any consideration to other causes of damp and mould.
