The P&C Job Market; More Pain for Progressive

With all eyes on the jobs market,?P&C Specialist?looked at employment in the insurance industry and found that while the market remains tight, top insurers such as?USAA?and?Farmers?and?Auto-Owners?are?advertising fewer jobs. That makes sense since many, like?Liberty Mutual?and?Allstate, continue to cut jobs.

And so it’s not a big surprise that employee job satisfaction at personal lines carriers, while up from December levels, remains?below average among major corporations.

That said, over the last five years, the median pay at most publicly traded insurance companies?rose by double digits, with an average raise of 15% according to an analysis by?P&C Specialist.

Finally, the weaker-than-expected results that?Progressive?disclosed last week may not be?the end of hard times?for the carrier, according to some company watchers.
