Emergency Landing on Ice in Rankin Inlet

A Pilatus PC-12/47, registered as C-FKGE and operated by Kudlik Aviation, was forced to land on an ice sheet near Rankin Inlet, Nunavut, Canada, after experiencing technical difficulties shortly after takeoff from Chesterfield Inlet Airport. The incident occurred less than five miles from Rankin Inlet Airport, where the aircraft was unable to reach and resulted in a belly landing that caused only minor damage to the aircraft. All three individuals on board, comprising two pilots and one company employee, safely exited the aircraft and awaited rescue without injuries; the Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating the incident to determine the cause. FAA Imposes $182K Fine on YouTuber

Michael DiCiurcio, owner of the PhillyDroneLife YouTube channel, has been fined $182,000 and banned from flying drones by a U.S. court, following numerous FAA regulation breaches documented on his channel. The violations include unauthorized drone flights in restricted areas, near buildings, and during nighttime. Despite initial compliance efforts, including attempts to obtain a Part 107 license for commercial operation, the court also ordered the seizure of DiCiurcio's drones and issued a permanent operational ban, emphasizing the serious consequences of disregarding aviation safety rules. Preliminary Report Released for Fatal Crash in Likely, CA

The National Transportation Safety Board has issued a preliminary report on the April 9, 2024, fatal crash of an Ayres Corporation S2R-G10, registration N40261, near Likely, California. The aircraft, operated by Jones Aviation Inc, was substantially damaged during an agricultural operation when it crashed, resulting in the pilot's death. According to the report, the airplane was conducting rice application flights under clear weather conditions without a flight plan, and further investigation into the wreckage is ongoing.
