#PBLondon Talks Episode 3: Nail Competition with Sue Davies

Sue Davies, a nail & beauty industry veteran and Deputy Chair of?The Federation of Nail Professionals, joins editorial assistant Lollie Hancock in this video to provide some insights for?#PBLondon Nail Competition?on April 3rd and 4th 2022 at ExCel London.

During this live interview, Davies shared how entering a competition can boost your career, including practical tips to ensure you stand out amongst other participants.?Entering a competition will assess your skillset and your level of expertise to see where you fit within your peers. This is so beneficial for you because you will be able to put into practice everything you have learned and understand how well you are working within the industry.

Davies also provides her do's and don'ts to keep in mind on the day of the competition, such as being aware of all the competition's rules and score sheets as well as understanding the judges' expectations and do not forget to have matching systems. Moreover, "remember to bring a suitable model, someone that has really good nail beds and understands what is needed of them," Davies said. It is also crucially important to pack your box up a few days before the competition and bring your full nail kit and make sure you have all the necessary tools such as UV lamps, gels, nail files etc. for the smoothly running of the competition. The last piece of advice Davies gave is to ensure all your labels and ingredients are correct and they are in English because the floor judges will be walking around, therefore ensure you are well prepared on the day of the competition.
