PBJ 4 - Rough AF
Just to get this out of the way guys, I abuse. It is true. SHOCKING for a guy from Delhi, I know—but it is what it is I guess. So, apologies but not really for teeny smatterings of er, unprofessional words, if you ever find them in my work and feel this way.
Moving on:
The topic of today’s newsletter is AGAIN and STILL what in my humble opinion MOST people struggle with the MOST—and that is BEGINNING.
Starting is the hardest thing—but why?
And how can we solve for this?
This is what we will talk about in today’s letter, and the aim I have is that we will solve this once and for all today.
Now. If I was to ask you why are you not posting regularly, I can safely bet what your answers would be:
1. Time nahi hai
2. I have too much work that’s too important
3. Etc / More variations on 1 and 2
See, the fact is none of us is able to deny the importance of building a brand, but we feel that:
1. It is not as important as the “real work” you do daily, and
2. Your content needs to polished and perfect and pretty before you post it.
And since you have too much work, and too little time, there is no way the ”polished content” you imagine yourself making ever actually gets made.
And hence nothing ever gets posted.
You see?
We’ve just identified the problem.
It’s not time. It takes under 60 seconds to write a tweet.
It’s not work. You will actually be best served making a tweet ABOUT what you’re working on—which will be not much extra effort for the upside you will get.

It’s this ridiculous need for polish, and the putting your content on a pedestal—as if you need to be perfect on day one to post at all.
Now we spoke about this in PBJ 3–Volume over everything. The lesson we get from there (and In highly suggest you revisit that if you missed it or don’t recall)—is that ultimately TRUE polish will only come from volume.
Practice makes perfect. Correct?
So practice—by posting. ??
So our solution is simple, and being Indian and in a religious mood I will even call it a mantra:
ROUGH AF.
Aim to be rough af.
Just open up your phone, turn the camera to selfie, and SAY WHAT YOU WANT.
AND PRESS POST.
Tomorrow do it again.
You will get better ONLY by doing this at some point—or tbh chances are you’ll never get started. That’s just how it is, and I’m trying to be real with you.
STOP PEDESTALISING CONTENT.
It is EASY. BASIC. ROUGH.
A million things you saw today on instagram—none of them were masterpieces that bloody PIcasso worked for months on. NO. They were fun, easy, ROUGH but interesting things that made you stop your scroll.
Do the same.
Simple, really.
And thus ends my super rough newsletter for this week!
Cheers, do leave me feedback about the video experience (if you’ve watched this), or really text me about anything Personal Branding related. I reply to everyone and the entire point is to help you.
Until next time,
Cheers!
