Wells Fargo sacks its India VP Shankar Mishra, the Air India urinator
American financial services giant 富国银行 sacked Shankar Mishra, Vice-President of its Indian subsidiary, after he was found to have urinated on a woman in her 70s on board an Airindia Limited aircraft from New York to New Delhi.
In a statement issued on January 6, the company stated,
"This individual has been terminated from Wells Fargo. We are cooperating with law enforcement and ask that any additional inquiries be directed to them."

While speaking at the 7th edition of Digital India Awards, Murmu said that there should be a focus on democratising government data to help technology enthusiasts in the country develop localised digital solutions.

Tech giant 苹果 is reportedly not planning to launch the fourth-generation iPhone SE next year. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone maker has informed suppliers that it has cancelled plans to release an iPhone SE #smartphone in 2024, reports MacRumors. Kuo claimed that the tech giant had intended to launch its first in-house 5G processor in the fourth-generation #iPhone SE, but that is no longer anticipated as the device has been cancelled.

Japanese #startup Icoma has unveiled its Tatamel bike, a tiny electric motorcycle that can fold into a suitcase-sized square in a few seconds. The electric bike comes with a price tag of $4,000 (roughly Rs 3,30,862) which puts it in the range of extremely high-end electric kick scooters.

Cold wave grips North India: Over 30 flights, 29 trains delayed in Delhi, IMD issues alert in these states
Dense fog reduced visibility to minimum in Delhi, impacting flight and train operations early Monday. Over 30 flights were delayed as visibility dipped to 50 metres at Delhi airport and to 25 metres at Safdarjung airport around 8:30 am. As many as 29 trains were running late in the Northern Railway region due to heavy fog.
Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan were among other states likely with reel under sever cold wave conditions.

Paytm receives RBI nod for appointment of Surinder Chawla as managing director and CEO
One97 Communications Limited Communications, the parent company of Paytm , on Sunday, Jan 8, announced that the company has received approval from the Reserve Bank of India for the appointment of Surinder Chawla as its managing director and CEO for a period of three years. Chawla has been in retail banking spanning over 28 years across marquee institutions such as HDFC Bank, RBL Bank, ABN Amro Bank and Standard Chartered Bank.
On the appointment, Vijay Shekhar Sharma, Chairman of Paytm Payments Bank Board, said,
"I am pleased to welcome Surinder... His rich experience in banking and deep understanding of the Indian financial landscape will bring the necessary expertise to further empower Paytm Payments Bank's mission.”
Goldman Sachs to lay off nearly 3,200 employees this week, these divisions to be impacted
Investment banking company 高盛 Group Inc will begin its biggest round of layoffs by letting go of nearly 3,200 employees, news agency Bloomberg reported on Monday. As per the report, more than a third of the job cuts that are likely to start Wednesday shall be in the core trading and banking units.
Hundreds of #employees are also likely to be impacted in Goldman Sachs' loss-making consumer business after it scaled back plans for its direct-to-consumer unit Marcus, sources cited by Reuters said.
USFDA issues Complete Response Letter for Biocon Biologics Insulin-R product
The United States Food and Drugs Administration (USFDA) has issued a Complete Response Letter (CRL) for the Biologics License Application (BLA) filed by Biocon's subsidiary Biocon Biologics for its Insulin-R product.
USFDA's letter cites additional data required in the submission of the license application. It further states that there is an expectation of a satisfactory implementation of a Corrective and Preventive Action Plan (CAPA) pertaining to the Pre-Approval Inspection (PAI) of the company's Bengaluru facilities in August last year.

Texas: First female Sikh judge sworn into United States court
Indian-origin Manpreet Monica Singh has been sworn in as a Harris county judge in Houston, becoming the first female Sikh judge in the US.
Singh was born and raised in Houston and now lives in Bellaire with her husband and two children. She was sworn in as a judge of the Harris County Civil Court at Law No. 4 in Texas on Friday. Singh’s father immigrated to the US in the early 1970s.
