PayPal’s Journey Forward in 2022

The following excerpts are from a message I shared with PayPal employees as we embark on the new year ahead.?

The past year was yet another time of challenges and opportunities for PayPal. Even as the global pandemic continued its unpredictable course, creating new pressures on our company and our communities, you stepped up in extraordinary ways to serve our customers, fulfill our mission and bring our values to life. As I look forward to 2022, I believe we’ve never had more opportunity to drive lasting impact for the customers and communities we serve.

The work we do together will expand our role in our users’ everyday financial lives and drive continued growth for years to come. By focusing on key responsible innovations, and investing in a secure and reliable platform, we’ll continue to deliver best-in-class solutions and experiences. We intend to drive meaningful impact for our customers, create value for all our stakeholders and fulfill the enormous potential of our mission. We have the opportunity to shape the future of the digital economy, and to transform financial services and commerce so that more people, businesses and communities can thrive.

We have a lot to accomplish in the year ahead, and I couldn’t be more excited about what we’ll be able to achieve together. Each of us has an important role to play to meet our objectives for the future. It won’t always be easy, but I have full confidence in our ability to execute as one team. We’ll need to support each other in embracing change and new ways of working. We must keep learning and innovating. As you’ve heard me say, we need to be sure that the pace of change inside our company is always greater than the pace of change outside of it.

It’s been incredible to watch the collective power of PayPal employees when we’re focused on our mission and our values. Our values remain core to who we are and will continue to be part of every decision we make and the way we lead, inside and outside our PayPal community. We’ve lived our values in significant ways through our continued investment in the financial wellness of our employee community, our commitment to racial equity and social justice, and our work to advance financial health and economic empowerment of women and girls around the world. We’ll continue to lead with our values at the core, and I’m excited to see the impact we’ll have in 2022 and beyond.

None of us expected more than 20 months ago, when we left our offices to work remotely, that we’d still be navigating the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic as we enter 2022. The deep commitment to our customers and the remarkable professionalism, resilience and community spirit you’ve demonstrated have been just extraordinary. We’ll continue to be thoughtful and agile as a company in taking care of each other and in meeting the ever-changing needs of our customers.

As we enter the new year, your health, safety and well-being remain my top priority. While I know these remain dynamic and challenging times, I’m optimistic about the year ahead. Thank you for your commitment to PayPal and for all you do to live our values and serve our stakeholders every day. Our mission and the work we do make a difference, and I’m grateful to be on this journey with all of you.
