PayPal recently ranked as one of the Best Employers to Work for in Ireland - this is why!
In recent research conducted by the Irish Sunday Independent and Statista, PayPal was ranked as one of the 'Best Employers to work for in Ireland'. This was not research conducted as a clinical trial, but based on reviews and feedback where it really matters - with company employees throughout the country rating their employers according to their own personal experiences!
Employee Wellness is a core element of PayPal's values globally, with the company stepping up to the plate and going above and beyond to protect, support and unite teammates over the past 15 months.
I'm a member of the team supporting PayPal hiring in Ireland & EMEA - below are just some of the reasons why, I believe, PayPal was ranked as one of the Best Employers to Work for in Ireland by employees!

1. Additional Employee Wellness Days.
Each of PayPal's approx. 2,800 employees in Ireland are entitled to 27 days paid holidays a year (on top of parental leave, bereavement leave, and a 4-week sabbatical after 5 years of service). In 2021, PayPal has provided employees an additional 6 paid Employee Wellness Days off between January - July 2021. In addition, the company has introduced a paid crisis leave scheme for unforeseen employee circumstances.
2. Amazing Internal Virtual Events & Parties
Throughout the year, our amazing communications & events team has hosted virtual events, activities, and guest speakers to keep employees engaged, active and spirits high.
These sessions have included virtual salsa dancing lessons with Ryan McShane, a fireside chat with Dame Kelly Holmes, Yoga Reggae sessions, cooking lessons, art classes and a virtual family fun day (including a Frozen Singalong & Baby Rave).
Plus not forgetting our Virtual Summer Party 2020 hosted by James Kavanagh and streamed live from the grounds of Malahide Castle - with performers including acrobats, firebreathers and Kodaline live on stage.
3. Mental Health & Wellness Support.
Employee mental health has always been paramount to PayPal, and this has been evident during the ongoing Covid19 crisis. PayPal has engaged with PepTalk to provide all employees support via virtual sessions and PepTalk online mental wellbeing apps. Several mental health virtual sessions have also been hosted with experts from PayPal's healthcare provider in Ireland, VHI.
PayPal has extended its Employee Wellness Support scheme over the period, with the PayPal Total Wellness Ambassadors also being a key resource for employees. Constant employee feedback and engagement surveys have fed into all PayPal decision-making.
4. Work From Home (WFH) Support
PayPal has supported employees to WFH since March 2020. Taking an abundance of care, PayPal in Ireland also informed employees during 2020 that they would not be brought back into the office until it is fully safe to do so. Leadership, IT & HR teams have worked tirelessly to ensure every employee had the training and support required to provide a best-in-class customer support service while in a secure and comfortable home environment. This has also included support schemes to pay for office equipment/expenses while WFH.
5. Financial Wellness Support
Understanding the extra financial burden some teammates may have during the time, PayPal launched an Employee Relief Fund for employees' unforeseen emergency financial needs. The Hastee Financial Wellness App has also been launched to support PayPal employees when they encounter unforeseen bills and circumstances.
PayPal commits to award all-new teammates with company shares as an element of their initial employee benefits. There has also been a decision to review all employee salaries to ensure that they are adequately compensated based on the changing cost of global and local living expenses.
The full benefits package includes an annual performance-related bonus, an education allowance, a relocation package should the teammate be relocating to join the team from abroad and exclusive employee discounts with select vendors.
6. Internal Career Coach Sessions
Understanding that internal mobility and opportunity to progress are key aspects of an employee's career path journey, the PayPal Talent Acquisition team based in Ireland has been hosting 1-1 Career Coaching sessions with employees on a bi-monthly basis. Within these sessions, employees can book a session and talk directly to our recruiters about their resume, internal interview preparation or be provided with overall professional recruitment / internal career advice.
7. ERG (Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging) Commitment.
PayPal is committed to diversity & inclusion. With collaboration and inclusion being core values that drive PayPal forward. PayPal in Ireland has several very active ERGs with 100’s of our employees taking active roles in their running and promotion. These ERGs include Unity (Women Employees), Amplify (Black Employees) - which supported PayPal's recent partnership with AkiDwA, Pride (LGBTQ+ Employees) and Thrive (Disabled Community). 8. Sharing our ‘Hidden’ Talents.
Throughout the year, PayPal has hosted several virtual sessions of ‘PayPal Unplugged’ in which PayPal employees are able to share their talents with the rest of the PayPal Ireland family.
