With the value in payments moving to commerce and the need for an omni-channel payments experience, payments providers need to focus on building strong and powerful back ends. Specifically the acquiring and processing infrastructures, which are multi-tenant, scalable, low latency environments which have the capacity to route transactions in from various sources (POS, Web, Mobile, self service/Kiosks, MOTO) to a multi processor fulfillment environment. This provides a base to create a magical consumer experience. A payment gateway is at the heart of this vision.
