Paying tribute after the death of a loved one
Amid the grief surrounding the death of a loved one there are important things you will want to do.
Among them is sharing the sad news with family, friends and the wider community, and letting them know about funeral arrangements.
Phone calls and emails are one way of doing this but if, like me, you want your announcement to reach the widest audience in a dignified manner I suggest you turn to a trusted local news brand such as the Hereford Times. It is what I did when my mother died, and this is what I wrote at the time: https://www.dhirubhai.net/pulse/little-envelope-tributes-enduring-value-family-notices-john-wilson/?trackingId=8md6jT1cR6qY0UQh3u0sUA%3D%3D
At the Hereford Times we charge customers for publishing death notices (information about someone's passing and funeral arrangements). And for that they get the assurance that their announcement will be handled sensitively and, unlike poorly regulated social media, will not be displayed alongside unconnected and inappropriate material over which you have no control.
In addition to our paid-for family announcements such as death notices we also publish obituaries free of charge in the Hereford Times.
We do this because we think every local life is worth celebrating. We have an online form that makes it really simple to submit your tribute, which will appear in print and online: www.herefordtimes.com/tributes
