Paying it forward with Thanksgiving Meal

The holiday season is a time to give back to the community and we’re working with some fantastic team members who are doing just that. During this Thanksgiving, our team member Carlos Diaz , Technical Sales Engineer at OneBridge (Now Irth Solutions) informed us of the non-profit organization called The Be Foundation that he started to feed low-income families during Thanksgiving.

As part of a little #FeelGoodFriday before the weekend, we'd like to share this with you!?

“When my family moved to the US as a low-income immigrant family ourselves, we were the recipients of this gift only days prior to Thanksgiving that first year we had moved. I have always carried that with me and thought about how to pay that forward. In 2020 I finally had the chance to pay it forward, and we were able to pool some money together from friends and family. And, through a friend, I got in touch with the Spring Branch ISD school district here in Houston (a low-income neighborhood) and coordinated the delivery of full thanksgiving meals to 25 families.

Last year, in 2021, we formalized this process and started a non-profit organization called The Be Foundation that would provide meals to families in need during thanksgiving as the sole initiative of the foundation. In this second year, we were able to double our goal and were able to deliver 50 meals to families in the community. This year, we were fortunate to again double that goal, and on Monday, November 21, we handed out 100 meals to the Spring Branch community!

This year with 100 full meals, we centralized a pickup point at the school and were able to deliver to some of the recipients who couldn’t pick up. ?But most of the families came to us at their kid’s school and we had the pleasure of meeting the people we were helping.

As the Be Foundation grows, we’d like to continue helping this community grow and thrive and working to expand our reach in the improvement of quality of life and opportunities these kids will benefit from. As part of The Be Foundation initiative, in August of 2022, we began a back-to-school initiative to provide kids with a backpack full of supplies. We would like to continue our efforts and we would also like to thank everyone that donated to this growing initiative!
