Pay transparency in Ireland
Ireland is the fourth country (after Germany, Sweden and Poland) to publish draft legislation following the EU Pay Transparency Directive.
This recent proposal implements parts of the Directive. We may see a trend of piecemeal adoption across the EU as member states, like Ireland, adapt existing and propose new legislation.
The draft legislation primarily covers salary transparency in job advertisements, and banning salary history questions. Both of which requires some solid pay principles.
Ireland is also ahead of the game with separate changes afoot this year for gender pay gap reporting.? From 2025, the employee threshold is reducing to 50, and the reporting deadline shortened to five-months.
For more detail on these changes, and some tips on what employers can do to get on the front foot, take a look at our recent blog.
