When Covid kicked off earlier this year, my career switch and reboot efforts were simply annihilated. Along came a stranger who offered to share my profile with her network. I learned she had been sharing the profiles of many more like me who were struggling with the job crisis induced by the pandemic. Through her simple act of kindness, I was inspired to do the same - share the profiles of others who are ready to get back to work. For more than 20 years, I have run non-profit organizations that inform and connect. I fully appreciate the value of casting a wider net when you are looking for your next career adventure.
Here are a few quick and dirty metrics on the #PayItForward Profiles (PIFP) campaign as of 20AUG2020
- More than 30k views of LinkedIn PIFP posts
- Each post receives between 400 and 5000 views. Why the difference? Strength of profile, existing network, and especially likes/shares/comments.
- Of 16 profiles shared in this campaign, SIX found a new job within two months of their PIFP post. I doubt there is any causation, but I do like the correlated metric!
