Pay Close Enough Attention
In spite of today's heat, I was definitely on the run from the time I arrived at office with one appointment after another. I thought it was troublingly curious to find a very many more 'back-packing' bicyclers out and about early this morning, and regardless what anyone would say to the contrary, they're up to no good, and especially those who're zig-zagging their way across our city. I dare say there were more of them visible than I'd ever seen before in any given morning. Oh well, business must be good.
I managed to make it over to my lakeshore property and get all the lights on and tidy up a bit, and just when I finished up the last little chore, the buyers and their agent arrived, so while they were doing their second inspection of the home, the seller and I had ourselves seated far enough away, just so they wouldn't be feeling invasive. Since he's been involved in music his entire life, I thoroughly enjoyed listening to the many stories he had to tell about his years of experience with other musicians and the general public. For sure there were several he told which will stick with me for years to come.
Considering it was an extended showing, I managed to get back to Mason City in just enough time to stop at Taco Tico and grab a small lunch which I took back to my office and ate before I had to be at my open house located at 325 - 10th St. NW. Because I'd been interrupted by text messages and phone calls from other agents, I managed to get there about five minutes before the hour. Yes, that was a close call.
Since it's been nearly a year since I'd hosted an open house, I almost forgot how to act, but it didn't take me long to get back into the swing of it once the first potential buyer arrived. Considering the number of people I knew who happened to show up, I chalked today's open house up as a success, and only because I wasn't trapped there for two hours with no arrivals. I guess my having taken a book along with me, must've been the reason there were more lookers than I was expecting. After being there for that extended period, I was once again reminded how exceptionally well-built the home is, along with its charming floor plan. All I can say is, whomever ends up with that home, will be thankful and grateful for buying it considering how much home's there for the money. Please, keep putting the word out.
One of the arrivals was shocked that I remembered his face and name, and only because I'd not seen or spoken to him in well over 25 years. I couldn't help adding, “Well, if I pay close enough attention to what someone looks like, it's pretty much hard-coded in my memory.” I was happy to find he still has his peppery sense of humor.

After I had everything put away from my open house, I headed over to pay a visit to my friend/client who's been recuperating this past week. We did have a nice visit about her progress, along with recent happenings in our lives. I'm remaining positive she'll be back to normal soon.
I've been forgetting to mention how happy I've been over the fine veggies I've been harvesting from my garden. Yes, this year has been very good for the garlic, the tomatoes, the cucumbers, and potatoes. Having never planted or eaten the German Fingerling potato, there's no question I'll be planting that particular variety every year from now on. My gosh! They're the absolute best tasting potato I've ever had. Yes, they're smaller-sized and not as many per hill, but the taste far out-weighs the volume. I've never been a big fan of potatoes until I came across the German Fingerling.
Tonight's One-liner is: The line between good and evil is permeable, and almost anyone can be induced to cross it when pressured by situational forces.
