I recently encountered a striking case that perfectly illustrates the saying "pay cheap, pay twice." A client engaged a general building contractor for a basement conversion, only to face a catastrophic failure due to subpar workmanship and design. This oversight led to the collapse of the building structure at the front of the basement, severely undermining both the front elevation of the property and the right-hand party wall.
In an attempt to rectify the issue, the client sought to make a claim on their home insurance. However, they were met with disappointment as the insurance loss adjuster denied the claim. The reason? The basement conversion work did not comply with building regulations or the standards set out in BS:8102:2022.
This situation serves as a crucial reminder: always ensure that any building work is carried out in accordance with established regulations. These regulations exist to protect you and your property.
When it comes to basement waterproofing, it’s vital to work with qualified @PCA designers and contractors. Doing the job right the first time not only saves you money in the long run but also alleviates the stress that comes with costly repairs.
