Pause & Reflect

Something always happens in October that makes me pause and reflect.

It’s been a while since I wrote a post on linked in – for a variety of reasons, some of which I look pause, reflect and laugh.? Well, here I am, trying to start again and I came across an old post that I wrote and realized that even if time changes, who we are really does stay the same.?

This is about personal brand.? How does someone describe you – in your presence and in your absence?

I remembered how an old friend introduced me to someone who was new to Kenya and needed to meet people.? He said: “Call Sheila if you need a good listener.? She will always listen and give good advice after analyzing the situation”. He further added: “Call Sheila if you’ve had a rough day and need to vent.? Because she will make you laugh and forget the stress”.

Fast forward to 2023 and recently I was introduced to someone – this time, I was the one new to a place and needed to meet people.? The descriptor was more or less the same.

I have all sorts of emotions around it, but I’ve accepted it to be true of me.? Unless I change, that will always be my brand positioning.

To some extent, that’s fine - it is great that I am known to actively listen.? I am, after all, a Certified Professional Coach when I am not building corporate brands.
