PAUSE AND REFLECT
DOG DAYS
What do the dog days conjure up in your mind??
For me, it’s hot, humid days and sweltering nights – and, that one wondrous week at the beach with sisters, brothers, cousins and friends; boardwalk, bikes, sand and sea.?Evidently, I have something in common with our ancestors (besides not having air conditioning and loving dogs).?They knew when the Dog Star, Sirius, was high in the night sky to expect excessive weather.?They supposed when Sirius was aligned with the Sun it triggered the Sun to burn hotter.?Admittedly, while relatively close, Sirius is still 8.6 light years from the Sun and most likely not causing the July into August heat wave we are currently experiencing.?
In hindsight, those ancient beliefs led to invention, invention led to innovation, and innovation grants the build community a right to transform and evolve, to explore new technologies, and make our buildings and infrastructure resilient, more efficient while harnessing alternative energy sources.??
We know climate change impacts us deeper year-by-year.?August gives us time to paws and reflect on how we can adapt and achieve balance or perchance, as the ancients believed, our fate is already written in the stars.??
PAUSE AND REFLECT
J Kimon Yiasemides, Esquire
When the ability to reach out to the entire world is merely a few keystrokes away, and society is focused on “press-here-for-result” solutions, it is easy to get caught up thinking every solution and response are instantaneous.?But immediate results are not always the best conclusions.?
The role of an attorney and their expert in a dispute is to understand, reflect, and present the best analysis and solutions to their clients.?Clients who hire counsel and experts are often caught in the turmoil of a challenged project trending to a dispute.?Pausing and reflecting on the case, allows counsel and consultants to process the complexities of the case and clarify, in that storm of information, what is important and relevant.?The expert will be their anchor through this tumultuous time by offering carefully thought-through analyses.?This is imperative and a vital aspect of the expert’s role and a key part of the litigation process.?An expert diligently reviews the data by checking various angles and perspectives of the dispute.?The expert also evaluates the data from different angles, to best understand the potential outcomes of the dispute.?By providing proper pause and reflection in your dispute, the expert can help illuminate the best course forward.

DOG DAYS
Dream of summer days, that last fur-ever.
It’s a pool pawty.
Dog days bright and clear,
Indicate a good year.
But when accompanied by rain,
We hope for better times in vain.
Anything is pawsible.
Dogs are on vacation every time they go out the door.
Who let the dogs out? Woof Woof!
Love is a cold wet nose.
