PAULTONS Park, the home of Peppa Pig World, is getting a huge new themed attraction in May 2020

Tornado Springs will be a four-acre land based on 1950s Americana and will be the biggest themed attraction in the park yet.

The Romsey-based theme park is re-imagining a desert town in the Midwest during the heyday of the US in the 1950s.

Included in the new attraction will be eight new rides, which are designed for kids between the ages of three and 14.

One of the new rides will be the Storm Chaser rollercoaster, the first of its kind in the UK as a free-spinning ride travelling up to 20m (65ft 7in) above the ground.

The Cyclonator, a Gyro Swing pendulum ride for 30 people, will also be part of the new land, with the design based on a "scythe" used to tend to crops.

Other attractions include Al's Auto Academy, a driving school with electric cars; a water raft ride called Buffalo Falls; and a yet-to-be-revealed attraction called Trekking Tractors.

Food stands will include Al's Garage for sweets and chocolates, while Route 83 Diner will offer dining options for the family.

James Mancey, Operations Director of Paultons Park, said: "The new themed world represents the single largest and most ambitious investment in the future of Paultons Park since we opened in 1983."

He added: "We’ve coupled the vibrant appeal and charm of the 1950’s era with best-in-class rides and attractions to create a truly unique world."

Tornado Springs will be the fifth land to join Paultons Park since it opened in 1983, and is due to open in May 2020.

Other lands already at the park include Critter Creek, Little Africa, Lost Kingdom and the UK-exclusive Peppa Pig World, which was voted the best theme park in Britain last year.
