Paull & Warner Resources (PWR)Prototype Isuzu 1:4 - Light Pumper with Compressed Air Foam System?(CAFS)

The benefits of CAFS

  • Excellent throw range and throw height due to the increased energy value of the CAF
  • Excellent adhesion of the CAF to smooth and vertical surfaces as well as first-class foam stability due to the fine and homogenous foam structure.
  • During active foam expansion, a single water drop is distributed across multiple foam bubbles, which results in a larger surface area for heat absorption
  • A greater component of the water bound in the CAF is able to evaporate, thus providing maximum cooling at the seat of the fire.
  • Oxygen is displaced from the flammable material through the evaporation of water.
  • A natural isolation layer is created between the flammable material and the oxygen.
  • Due to the high kinetic energy of the CAF water can penetrate deeper into the flammable material providing better cooling
  • Reduction in water and foam concentrate usage e.g. Foam proportional mix of 0.5% means that for every 1000 litres of water used only 5 litres of foam concentrate is used
  • Typically Class A foam is around 40% more effective than water for effective fire knockdown and CAFS is around 39% more effective than Class A Foam
