Mark Lindner
Director Fowler Scholars Program @ Fowler College of Business | MBA & Undergraduate Lecturer
Paul Baribault , President and CEO of San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance , recently led the SDSU Sports MBA class adding significant value by sharing key leadership principles and real-world opportunities to achieve success.
As an athlete and previous member of the USA Luge National Team, former Vice President at The Walt Disney Studios, and now global leader of one of the most renowned conservation organizations in the world, San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance, Paul’s thoughtful perspective, collaborative leadership style, and commitment to people offer invaluable insights for each of us.
Setting a vision, leading with it, and building a culture around that vision is key to successful leadership. Vision sets a direction, inspires hope, and builds an authentic connection.
As a successful leader, it is important to listen with an entirely open mind when connecting with your team. When you are open to feedback before making a decision, you build the trust that an important decision was made with the right intent by a leader who will move forward with determination and decisiveness.
While the best leaders will always do what is right based on the metrics, this formula also allows them to guide with clear principles while doing all they can as an effective leader to support and authentically celebrate victories as a team—just the way they were created.
Celebrating as a team offers hope and optimism for the challenges that lie ahead and empowers the team to continue the momentum and achieve greatness together.
We are grateful to have Paul in San Diego leading a critical organization for our community and for the world.?
THANK YOU, Paul, for adding value to the SDSU Sports MBA program!!
