Patterns of Burnout

Patterns of Burnout

My biggest pattern that hasn't?served me?is working until I almost burn out.

I say almost because something seems to stop me right before I completely burn out.?

There are many signs that appear that are telling me loud?and clear:?it's time to slow down?but I tend to ignore them. That's the vicious cycle.

At the time, I didn't?realize it, but looking back, hindsight is very clear, there have been many signs: I just need to pay attention to them.

The first time, it was an incurable illness that stopped?me in my tracks for a few years.

The second time, it was being let go of a job at a time when I had three jobs fully knowing one had to go but I wouldn't have done it on my?own due to fear.

The third time was covid - yup, there is a silver lining in the big pandemic. It forced us to slow down or completely stop.

The fourth time was a health scare - thankfully only a scare but enough for me to stop, pause and re-evaluate.

Fifth and final time was my illness, it returned with a vengeance. I say final time because I'm making a commitment to myself to stop the cycle.

I wish I didn't?need five times (I'm sure there were more, I just can't remember them at the moment) before I stop permanently and make myself and self-care a priority.

Be mindful of how you are feeling physically and emotionally. Be mindful of signs of?burnout where you are in a state of fatigue and exhaustion. Remind yourself that you can't run on empty for very long. Because if you don't slow down, life will do it for you.?
