Be it the worlds top scientists, economists or mathematicians, they have often emphasized on simple and impactful ways to solve complex problems. We all are aware of the tension between India and China because of Chinese foul play.
So how do we respond? If you’re wondering that agitation is the way forward, my answer is a big “no”. We will just end up losing focus from the main issue at hand.
We need to approach this situation as responsible citizens. It’s time to stay united, and channelize our energy in overcoming antisocial forces (both external and internal) that are trying to demoralise, divide and distract us.
And before we question our leadership, we should take charge of our responsibilities and actions towards our country and fellow citizens. And it means not just talking, but taking purposeful action.
Here are a few simple tips with rationale, on taking meaningful action:
1- We often talk about data being the new oil. And oil has been synonymous to financial and political muscle. And this implies that we as responsible citizens, need to protect our data from nations, groups and individuals who are misusing our data against us, to their advantage. So uninstall/ delete applications and platforms developed by anti India and antisocial forces, that are using these applications and platforms to capture data on our behaviour, habits and personal life. The more data goes out to such antisocial and anti-democracy forces, the more we would be exposing ourselves to these known and unknown enemies. The data could be blogs, videos or any other form of content that you post.
2- Become more aware about what to communicate and what not to communicate to family, friends and colleagues. Remember information that we receive from unknown or unauthorised sources should not be shared with others or used to build opinion. Using or spreading any fake or unauthorized information can disrupt our social ecosystem, peace and cause panic; especially during times of crisis.
3- Now for the Chinese goods and services. I wouldn’t advise anyone to dump stuff purchased from their hard earned money. But yes, you can minimise purchase of such goods. So don’t overreact. Going forward, let’s make it a practice to indulge in purchase of products and services, from only those organisations and countries, that align with our national interest and welfare & progress of our people. That is how we will make sustainable progress as a nation.
We all make big claims about being patriotic. Above mentioned points were a few simple steps we can take (only if you agree with me) to show patriotism. So let’s start from our side first (before asking others), in our endeavour to build a more patriotic India and better world!
