Like Hollywood actors, sales professionals put themselves and their companies on the line with every word, taking a risk in the hope of a favorable outcome. Just like actors, even the best, most experienced sales professional benefits from some script review, rehearsal, and coaching.?

Here are the 11 most common mistakes that I see on the sales stage and what you can do to avoid them:

  1. Unclear Thinking
  2. Talking Too Much
  3. Wrong Structure
  4. Not Memorable Stories
  5. No Emotional Connectiona
  6. Wrong Levels of Abstraction
  7. No Pauses
  8. Hmm, Ah, Err, You Know, So, Right
  9. Weak Opening
  10. Weak Closing
  11. Lack of Specificity

Avoid these, and you’re on your way to becoming a star of the sales world, delivering a dazzling performance every time.

A presentation (depending on the type) the presenter should ask thought provoking questions or end their presentation with visions of what can be. I remember Jim Rohan (deceased) saying, “If not now, then when” at the end of his seminars. I thought this was a powerful motivation thought-provoking statement.

I had the privilege of seeing Ms. Fripp in person years ago! Her talk added tremendous value - and this post is no different. Thank you, for the great tips. I'm still working on some of them! Still in Toastmasters as well, it's a great practice venue. #toastmasters #publicspeaking

Point number one is number one for a good reason because you must start with clear thinking. Get that right and the rest is more likely to follow. Get that first point wrong and everything fails.
