“How was your weekend, did you get up to much?”

The standard water cooler chat is anything but standard at PatientSource, not surprising when the company co-founder carves out a week a month to continue their clinician speciality.

After witnessing countless near misses, actual patient harm and a final catastrophic incident leaving the patient with lifelong complications, Dr Michael Brooks rescinded his role applications for the following year and set about writing an electronic patient records platform that is:

·        Affordable – Mike was ahead of his time in choosing public cloud as the host platform, saving incredible sums for clients in not having to establish IT infrastructure, nor maintain it over the prevailing years. Open Source components were utilised, saving licence subscription to the underlying databases.

·        A solution frontline medics are happy to use - PatientSource has been written from a front liners perspective, the medic, nurse, health professional with a rapidly deteriorating patient in front of them needs:

o  The right information, about the right patient, at the right time – PatientSource is comprehensively interoperable. Featuring an Open API, HL7 and FHIR messaging, the technology highly functional in joining up systems but more importantly the ethos and ethics of the company mean that when a prospect client asks “can you?” – the answer is always, “of course

o  The user interface to be uncluttered and intuitive to use.

o  Information shared between modules and presented in a clinically useful way.

Having Mike at the sharp end of medicine ensures we keep abreast of the very latest developments in healthcare and best practice and the water cooler discussion keeps the whole company laser focused on our purpose and mission…
