Patients remind us why we do the work we do

One year ago, the World Health Organization declared the COVID-19 outbreak to be a global pandemic. For the past year, we've stayed home, and we have seen our news feeds flooded with ongoing reports of climbing cases, virus variants, revised healthcare policies, and updates on vaccine development and distribution. 

During this ongoing global health emergency, Sempre Health has never been prouder of the work we do to help chronic disease patients access and afford their life saving medications. In particular, at this one year junction, we have been struck by the way that the text messages we receive back from our patients have become increasingly filled with heartwarming and enthusiastic thanks. While our healthcare system has its bright spots, affordability is not usually listed among them.

We knew making healthcare affordable—especially during this time of economic uncertainty—was tremendously important work. Messages from our patients have helped show us the full extent of that impact.

When patients enroll in a Sempre Health program, as offered through their health plans, they immediately begin to receive individualized discounts at the pharmacy counter. Patients not only appreciate the fact that their discounts increase over time, they also value that Sempre Health engages them via text message, which for many patients is a preferred means of communication. 

Medication adherence is a crucial part of maintaining health, whether or not you are living through a pandemic. But the price of some medications can make it difficult for far too many Americans to comply with their doctors’ orders. That’s why we are proud to offer people discounts on critical, chronic disease medications.

Some of our patients say that being in a Sempre Health discount program means the difference between taking their medications as prescribed, or skipping them altogether.

As a patient based in Michigan told us: “Without you, I would not be able to afford my meds.”

There are numerous stakeholders that all make a difference in healthcare - providers, insurers, technology companies, elected representatives... the list goes on. But not everyone gets to hear directly from patients how their service or product makes a fundamental difference in their lives. 

At Sempre Health, we feel incredibly fortunate to receive this feedback from patients in real-time on a daily basis. It’s this kind of feedback that motivates us to keep building and doing the work we do.
